SSpS-SVD in Rome celebrate St. Arnold’s Day
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On January 15, 2017, the communities of the SVD and SSpS in Rome gathered to celebrate together the yearly Feast of the Founder – St. Arnold Janssen. For this year, the celebration was held at the SVD generalate.
Fr. Andrzej Miotk talked about Fr. Arnold’s leadership. In Steyl, on his sarcophagus 3 latin words are written – Father, Guide and Founder. Reflecting on the second word, Fr. Andrzej highlighted Fr. Arnold Janssen’s leadership qualities. He was a man of great vision and determination. He allowed the Spirit to transform him by enfleshing in his life the virtues of humility, justice, strength and temperance. Fr, Arnold believed that “the good grows slowly”. He trusted in God’s presence and action in the hearts of people to bring about life.
The Holy Eucharist was made more alive by dances and songs that highlighted the internationality and interculturality of both congregations (SSpS and SVD) together with a group of lay mission partners. It was presided by the Rector – Fr. José Nicolás Espinosa and the homily was given by Fr. Herbert Scholz. Everybody enjoyed the sumptuous meal that followed, which gave the opportunity for personal interaction and table sharing. It was indeed an enriching and joyful encounter of brothers and sisters in the Arnoldus Family.
Special thanks to the SVD Generalate Community for organizing and hosting the celebration.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
