On this year’s Season of Creation celebration (September 1 – October 4), Pope Leo XIV declared: “It is not yet too late.” These words echo through our SSpS communities as we confront the wounds of our planet. The Holy Father’s message is a summons to conversion, hope, and action grounded in our missionary vocation.
Pope Leo invites us to hear “the melodious voice of creation.” In this silence, we recognise what our charism has always proclaimed: care for creation and care for the poor are inseparable. The cry of the earth and the cry of the anawim are one cry.
The marginalized suffer first when creation is exploited. Deforestation displaces indigenous communities. Pollution poisons the water of the poor. Climate change uproots families with no resources to adapt.
When our Sisters plant trees, advocate for clean water, and teach sustainable farming, we transform instruments of destruction into instruments of life. Every SSpS mission is a testament: it is not too late to serve the forgotten ones of God.
Ecological conversion flows from our founding charism. As Pope Leo reflects on Saint Francis, we embrace the way of beauty that leads to the Creator. This is our mission: to be signs of hope, voices for the voiceless, hands that transform destruction into life. Every act of care for creation is solidarity with the poor.
May the Holy Spirit empower us to be servants of life, servants of the earth, servants of the anawim.
It is not yet too late
