What does it mean to have the Holy Trinity dwell within us? On the second day of the 6th International Assembly for Formators, Fr. Thomas Heck, SVD, guided participants into the depths of this mystery, exploring the Trinitarian spirituality of our founder, St. Arnold Janssen.
Inspired by the theologian Matthias Scheeben, St. Arnold’s life was anchored in the prayer: “May the Holy Triune God live in our hearts and in the hearts of all people.” Fr. Heck illuminated this concept through the lens of perichoresis—the divine dance of mutual love and interpenetration between the Father, Son, and Spirit. This reality, he explained, is not just a heavenly truth but an earthly calling: within our diversity, we are invited to live as one.
Converging Paths: Science and Spirituality
The afternoon session bridged faith and reason. Drawing from Franciscan Richard Rohr and nano-scientist Maria Strømme, Fr. Heck revealed how modern science is catching up with ancient faith. We are all interconnected, originating from one field of consciousness—the dynamic love of the Trinity. True transformation, therefore, begins in self-emptying, making space for that love to enter.
As we navigate a fragmented world, this Trinitarian dynamism offers a path toward wholeness, echoing the call to listen deeply and walk together as one.
