Mark 2: 18-22

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and people came and said to him, ‘Why do John’s disciples and the disciples
of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?’ Jesus said to them, ‘The wedding-guests cannot fast while the bridegroom is
with them, can they? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. The days will come when the bridegroom
is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day. ‘No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old cloak; otherwise,
the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins;
otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost, and so are the skins; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins.’

The news is that God’s wind is blowing us toward newness. It may be a breeze that cools and comforts. It may be a gust that summons you to notice. It may be a storm that blows
you where you have never been before. Wherever the wind is in your life, pay attention to it.  And the blessing of God, Father, Son and Spirit, will abide with you always”

(Reflections on Leadership, 5th SSpS International Assembly for Provincial/ Regional Leaders- India 2016).

Silent reflection

1. What feelings are in your heart as you start this day?

2 Jesus tells us that new wine needs new wine skins. SSpS Provincials/Regional leaders were encouraged to pay attention to the wind which is blowing us to newness”. What
new wineskins, what winds are calling you to newness as you look to the future directions for the Congregation?

3 What grace do you wish to pray for today?
