The Arrival of the Pioneer Sisters
On December 5, 2023, the pioneer sisters arrived in Bandundu to start the new mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Sending Mass in the Mother House
The Pioneer Sisters of the Mission in Congo received their missionary sending during a Mass celebrated in Steyl on November 29, in the chapel of the sarcophagus of Blessed Mothers Maria and Josefa.
The Mass was presided over by Fr. Georges Mondo, SVD of Congo, with the Sisters of the Motherhouse Community, some young people from MaZ (Missionaries for Time) and some SVDs.
Sister Mariana Camezzana, who accompanied the group during their time in Steyl as a CLT member, prepared the sending out celebration. The pioneers received the SSpS Constitutions in French and the relics of our co-foundresses.
For the new foundation, the sisters will form two communities, one in Bandundu and one in Kinshasa. Initially, they will all go to Bandundu, where Sister Mikaelin Bupu, Assistant General, is waiting for them.
The foundation celebration will take place on December 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary and the anniversary of our Congregation.
